Special Education: Specific Learning Disability (SLD)

Oakland University's Specific Learning Disability Education degrees focus on broader concepts of learning, instruction and development as well as in-depth preparation in the area of specific learning disability. Applicants should have or be eligible for a Michigan teacher certification. A practicum in an approved classroom is required and included in the program.
Delivery Type: 100% online with practicum/student teaching completed at an approved site (if applicable)
Credit required:
- MEd in Special Education with concentration in Specific Learning Disorder - 40 credits
- Graduate Certificate in Specific Learning Disability Education: Basic - 32 to 40 credits
- Graduate Certificate in Specific Learning Disability Education: Advanced - 20 to 36 credits

Master's Degree: Teachers and educators who would like to complete an advanced degree as well as add the Specific Learning Disability endorsement to their current teaching certificate.
SLD Education: Advanced Certificate: Teachers who already have one or more special education endorsements who would like to add the Specific Learning Disability endorsement to their current teaching certificate.
SLD Education: Basic Certificate: Teachers who would like to add the Specific Learning Disability endorsement to their current teaching certificate, but do not currently have any special education endorsements.
